The formidable team of cyclists representing Tembe at this years Sika cycle event were headed up by Matt Allen, Vince Rodgers and Kevin Heath. Who, decked out in their smart Hippo sponsored cycle gear, arrived in high spirits at the Ashridge Executive Education Centre for the event held in aid of Keech Hospice care.

Starting from their beautiful estate base near Berkhampstead in Hertfordshire the team commented that they possibly underestimated the challenge after working out that they had a combined age of 173 which was quite alarming!!!

The route to the finish line offered a gruelling 100 miles through the Chiltern Hills and presented a tough mental challenge, as well as physical one. Huge pot holes caused by the recent bad weather, steep hills, and just as it started to rain a puncture at 40 miles. furthermore the numerous wrong turns taken by the team, added at least 5 miles to the course! So there was much to overcome!

But our brave team persevered and completed the course to earn a well deserved drink at the bar. Commenting afterwards Kev said that it was one of the best organised events he’s been on and that it will hold great memories for a long time. The food, hospitality and venue was all amazing with great support from the Sika team who were out on the course.
