War on Waste Plastics Investment

We’re investing heavily in the UK sealants and adhesives market and our war on waste plastics, with Hippo ECO-PAC. Our new multi-channel campaign includes national TV, radio, perimeter branding during football matches and striking new point of sale stands.

Our first ever television commercial will be broadcast widely across the Channel 4 network. Focused on the amazing capabilities of Hippo PRO3 the eye-catching advert also draws attention to the war on waste plastic and the environmental benefits of ECO-PAC.

In the UK an estimated 5 million tonnes of plastic is consumed every year and nearly half is packaging. Sadly, the construction industry currently accounts for a quarter of this. With waste including an estimated 150 million plastic sealant and adhesive cartridges, being sent to landfill! And because plastic cartridges are made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE), they don’t biodegrade. That’s why we consider our investment in ECO-PAC essential.

Guy Malam, Managing Director explains why our move away from single-use plastics is a timely one:

We now offer a range of 14 ECO-PAC foils in Hippo sealants, adhesives and Filltite fillers. Their eco-friendly foil ‘sausage’ packaging negates the need to use plastic cartridges for sealants and adhesives. ECO-PACs are much better for the environment because they generate 96% less waste. They’re made from durable aluminium foil, and you can get up to 38% more product in an ECO-PAC for the same cost as a plastic cartridge. With left over waste no bigger than a few coins.
